To All New Slow Food Alameda Members

Welcome and thank you so much for all of your support. We were truly overwhelmed by the turnout, the enthusiasm, and the number of people who didn’t hesitate to join up. We are very happy to report that Slow Food Alameda has gone from just an idea a few short weeks ago to now more than 100 members strong. Incredible – and well beyond all of our best case scenarios.

Please give us a week or two to catch our collective breaths and get our paperwork together. But there will be more coming very soon.

In the meantime, please show your appreciation by supporting last night’s sponsors who generously donated both their time and their food. These are people who share the Slow Food vision of selling and serving Good (delicious), Clean (sustainable/chemical free), and Fair (to producers, laborers, and animals etc.) food:

Alameda Natural Grocery (Alameda Marketplace – Park Street at Buena Vista)
Asena Restaurant (Santa Clara between Everett and Broadway)
Baron’s Meats (Alameda Marketplace)
C’era Una Volta (Redwood Square – Next to the Post Office - off Park, between Central and Encinal)
The Beanery (Alameda Marketplace)
Dan’s Fresh Produce (Oak at Central – near the new theater)
Feel Good Bakery (Alameda Marketplace)
Fra’mani Salumi (available at many premier grocers and butcher shops including Baron’s Meats)
Little House Café (Blanding and Oak)
Mona’s Table (Encinal at High Street)
Mr. Espresso (available at many of the best restaurants and cafés throughout the Bay Area)
Pappo (On Central, across from the new theater)
Rosenblum Cellars (if you’re not sure where they are, you had too much to drink last night)
Straus Family Creamery (available at many premier grocers including Alameda Natural Grocery)

Additional thanks to the folks at Chez Panisse who so kindly brought the beautiful floral decorations and to Ploughshares Nursery (right across from Rosenblum’s) for donating a gift certificate to the raffle. By the way, the raffle raised over $300 to be donated to The Growing Youth Project.

Also, for those interested, many of us are taking the ferry over (near Rosenblum’s) to Slow Food San Francisco’s annual Food From the Heart celebration in the beautiful Ferry Building. Please contact us if you are interested in joining us or meeting us there. Once again,
Thank you all SO MUCH!
